April 2008 Blizzard

While the rest of the world is enjoying blooming flowers, warm spring rains and fresh green grass--here we are in Northern Minnesota getting hammered with yet another snow storm! These people are pretty relaxed about winter weather but when you see the Northlanders heading to the grocery stores in groves you know you better at least make sure you've got some bottled water, cans of spaghettios and some sort of wood pile for the wood stove--just in case.

The snowfall wasn't too heavy but the winds and visibility were atrocious! All the local schools, tv stations, even the hospitals were shut down Friday (so we all got to have a family day off together.) The kids begged and begged to play outside in the blizzard--but I had to put my foot down--no playing outside until the winds are 30 mph or below! The photo is of Katie and Micah--they dug tunnels from one side of the yard to the other and tried to meet in the middle, but popped the top off before they made it all the way!

Josh thought we shouldn't buy to many groceries ahead of time so he could ride his snowmobile to the grocery store in the middle of it! Anyway--it was fun and now the snow is receding into a lake in the back yard--more fun for the kids and Josh--more muddy floors for me!
