Tour of Animals

Our homeschooling group recently took a tour of domestic animals.  Our first stop was the vet.  Katie and Micah (on the far left) watch a routine puppy exam. The surgery suite was pretty cool.  The vet explained what kind of surgeries they do and basic procedures.
Then he saw Micah standing in the corner clutching his beloved froggy.  He asked Micah to come "be the doctor" and "do surgery" on froggy.  After having seen quite a bit of the operating room Micah was reluctant, but the vet assured him that they would not hurt froggy, so Micah agreed.
After the vet we made a stop at a doggie obedience school.  The kids were taught how to handle a dog attack, how to (or not to) approach and pet strange dogs and some basic obedience training techniques.  Those of you who know our Stella may see that I am listening quite diligently--we went away with a few tips.  We are learning to be the alpha dogs in the house!
Our final stop (no photos) was the animal rescue league.  After about 100--"your father would say absolutely nots" we left empty handed with barking ringing in our ears!  There were some pretty cute pups in there!  Micah's favorite animal was a little kitty that would reach out of the cage and pat him on the head.  He wanted to name him "Patty".  Katie wanted to take all of them--except for the rather aggressive rotweiler.  She even wanted the cats regardless of her very severe cat allergy!
