Grimes Farm

One very fun advantage of homeschooling is all the field trips and hands on experiences that we get to be a part of.  We are currently learning about Iowa culture.  Last week we took a field trip to Grimes Farm--A local conservation and educational center.  Here is the covered bridge leading up to it.
Who else gets to take the lunch lady on field trips?
Micah explores a mystery box and all sorts of educational drawers.
Katie and her friend Bucky Beaver--if only Papa Keith had been around for voice effects!
Micah loved the animals pelts--especially this fox.
Katie's allergy kicked up a bit!
This whopper of a state record crappie was caught at the same little lake where we were married.
Of course ever Iowa child must be well versed in Pheasant identification so they may one day hunt with their daddies.  These are all rooster pheasant variations.
Here is the classic rooster pheasant--Josh's all-time favorite game bird!
An eagle eye keeps watch.
Papa and Bobi enjoy a break with the kiddos in the butterfly garden.
Papa and Bobi--Wuv Twu Wuv!

What fun! I have to warn you though that homeschooling is addicting. Hard work, yes, but addicting nonetheless!
