Kearns Christian Academy

Since we moved to Iowa before we sold our house in Minnesota we are living with my parents while we deal with house stuff and until we find a new house in Des Moines.  I really didn't want to put the kids in school in Marshalltown, and then take them out and put them in another new school in Des Moines once we get settled there.  So in the meantime I have decided to homeschool them until we get settled.  My family has been a great support in this endeavor along with many helpful homeschooling moms in the area.  It is a daunting task, but we are loving it!  The following are some photos of our homeschooling day!
Katie's thinkin about it!
Her cursive is developing quite nicely!
Here is Micah working hard!
Teacher Mama.  I love my role as teacher.  The kids are learning a lot and I have to admit--selfishly I love being with my babies all day long!  We decided Josh will be our principal!  When Josh and I had to be away for a conference for a week, Nana (Josh's mom) stepped in as substitute.  Since I wasn't around, I don't have any photos but I hear they had a great week!Bobi is our lunch lady--she prepares wonderful nutritious meals for the kiddos each day!Papa Paul has been teaching Micah how to lead singing.  He has lead several songs now on Wednesday nights.  His favorite is "The Battle Belongs to the Lord."  He has also served on the Lord's Table twice now as the lid boy.  He has to work at it but he manages to stand up there quietly and mostly still and slowly walks, not runs (his usual mode of transportation) the lids to the back after each prayer.Coach Papa leads Katie and Micah in Gym class.  Papa rides in circles on his bike.Katie follows on her bike--she recently took a nearly 11 mile bike ride with Papa Paul and Auntie Amy.  From what I hear, Dad and Amy were working to keep up with her!!Micah follows the bike train on foot--he's not quite proficient on two wheels yet.
Papa and Micah work on the bounce pass.
Catching the bball.
Stretching--this is by far the toughest for the kids but they are getting better.
Auntie Amy supplements our curriculum with letter, number, color, and yes pop recognition on pop.com.  She is our computer lab and ingenuity teacher.  She has the kids well trained to spot coke caps nearly anywhere and they diligently repeat the codes of letters and numbers to her as she enters them on pop.com.  They will soon be an unveiling of a line of coke cap jewelry on ebay.
Our school mascot--Stella the Dawg
Okay, so she's a distraction more than anything else but we still love our doggie!!
