Spring in Iowa

We are experiencing our first real Spring in five years now that we are in Iowa (the bird chirping commercials they play in the Northland to tell you that Spring is here don't really coun't--sorry Northland friends.)  The weather is on the warming trend, the trees are budding, the birds are singing the peas and spinach are sprouting!  I love Spring--so full of hope and new life (although a few less bunnies to ravage the garden would be okay with me, hee hee).  If only I could gaze upon the seas of Bluebonnets in Texas too!!

A couple of Sundays ago, we had a surprise snowstorm--not much stuck but it was so sad to see the little robins who thought it was safe to return to the midwest searching for cover.  In the church parking lot I could see a line of about 20 fat little robbins hiding out under the cars.
Protecting her frozen nest.
This one is so fat she must be ready to lay her eggs any day!
